||||||||||| Back to list of Orcs |||||||||||

~~~~ The last of his line, he goes by his bloodname, Brek. Brek hails from the Bloody Knuckle clan of the viciously hot Dark Swamplands in the East where there is a heavy and growing human presence. As are all orcs from that region, he is darkly colored and mottled, and speaks with what we would consider an almost southern accent, though heavily orcish as well. He's 38 and a newly retired grunt. Normally an orc who was clever enough to have managed to stay alive as long as he would have taken a command position, rather than retire. But, well, the best that can be said about Brek is that he's clever enough to know he's not all that clever.
~~~~ Upon laying eyes on Brek, the first thing one would notice is the scars covering him, followed closely by the fact that he's as ugly as sin. Battle scars cover him head to foot, including one across his face that came perilously close to blinding his left eye. The tip of his right ear is completely and raggedly gone, his left protruding sub-canine is broken in half but filed flat and then capped with bronze, and more than a handful of his other teeth are missing altogether. All of his remaining teeth are yellow and crooked.

~~~~ His face is very wide and sports heavy jowls. Over them, he wears a ragged grey-speckled beard, which would be full except he shaves it beneath his mouth (think Irish), and is very hairy everywhere else. He is heavily pierced everywhere, including his chin, eyebrows, nipples, naval, tongue, ears, and some places that shall remain unnamed. As for his size, he's massive, though not as heavily muscled as some other orcs. 6'5'' with a protruding gut, he's used to throwing his weight around.
~~~~ Often, it is said that one should not judge a book by its cover. This is not one of those times. Brek has the personality to match his appearance. Having been a soldier most of his life, he's become the ultimate hardass. He was once referred to as "tough as an old leather boot," to which he replied with a full-toothed grinned (he does that a lot, it makes him even uglier) and a nod before smashing the speaker in the face.

~~~~ He may have been a soldier, but he's no war hero. He's not extraordinarily brave, just mean. He gets the job done, but will be stubborn as an incensed mule if argued with. Years of life among grunts has made him the master of malicious taunts and jibes, often lacking coherence, but complete with physical gesturing. All in all, not the kind of orc you want to invite to dinner...unless you like that sort of thing.
~~~~ As a veteran of more battles with humans than most war-chiefs can claim, Brek has developed an intense hatred for humanity and anything they represent. Most of his flaunted un-beauty is an externalisation of that. Since surviving many battles often means winning, and that means looting, Brek's been given many opportunities to do what all grunts enjoy most: rape, pillage, and setting fire to things. He's also developed an affinity for the taste of human flesh.

~~~~ When on the move, or journeying, Brek goes barefoot and bare-chested aside from a studded leather half-plate held onto his right shoulder by a black leather cross-strap, to which is also buckled, across his back, a twin-moon battle-axe. He wears tight ragged leather breeches. Both legs end well before they reach halfway to his ankles, and what remains is heavily patched. He also wears hard leather bracers on his forearms, and carries an Orcish bull-whip at his side, in the use of which he is quite proficient.
~~~~ Brek's no wrestling pro, but he knows his way around a fistfight, as any soldier does. He knows how to use his weight and height advantages to their fullest, but he's also schooled in the use of his mouth. He uses momentum and strength to knock over his adversary, or at least knock them off balance. His other advantages lie in his taunting, which he will use at every opportunity to encourage mistakes, and his high pain endurance. Years of getting cut to ribbons will do that. Brek is most certainly not above cheating, and will if given the opportunity, but he's not really clever enough to come up with anything on his own. He will routinely and cheaply sweep his opponents feet out from under them, since they usually don't expect that sort of move from an orc like him. Despite his size, however, he's not overly strong. He's never worked out or trained, everything he has he got by soldiering. He's also getting on his his years, so his endurance isn't what it used to be.

~~~~ Off the battlefield, his friends are few and far between, but he will stand by them as his own blood. It's hard to earn enough respect from Brek for him to consider someone worth even a fist in the face. He does not expect to make any friends in the tournament, but is prepared to make an enemy or two, which doesn't bother Brek much. No, not at all.
Derok Brek is, and let's be quite clear about this, the copyright of Woodfoot. So no copying, right?
